In that place where helping hands are engulfed in pockets
reality begs for answers,
the questions summoning tears.
Is caring real or a business deal,
a breaking heart or a torn balance sheet discarded?
The reality of indifference is the compassion of reality,
ice cold tears breaking in the gulf between mainland attention
and the island of need,
ever wider than our reach,
wider, yet, than the years separating humanity’s renaissance
and the foul pit it seeks to dig.

the reality of indifference, it’s up to us, not to be indifferent, amen
Truly. Indifference serves only denial, not humankind.
