Deflating Anxiety

Anxiety!
Over-inflated balloon one minute,
collapsed the next,
and somehow there’s still no oxygen.
Pacing, wringing hands,
gasping, vision darting,
chills running hot,
but you note them not…
you’re too busy managing tremors appearing everywhere at once.
No wonder rational thought doesn’t stand a chance…
But.
It.
Does…
Quiet.
Stillness.
Breathe.
In.
Out.
Let the symptoms come.
Welcome them,
then let them pass through.
Breathe.
If chaos screams,
let it scream
—then let it fade away.
Breathe.
You’re controlling the air
going in,
going out.
You’re in control.
Breathe.
Thoughts quieting.
Shoulders relaxing.
Breathe…
