Electrical Beings

Rushing into the storm,
water splashing.
Sirens wailing
—their passionate refrain.
Lightning strike.
Power pole standing…
in an instant,
a Roman candle
beckoning to the gods.
Sparks,
blast furnace flames
defying the rain’s veil.
Waterfall on my lashes,
soaking me through.
Your hand on my wrist…
turned, turning around.
Hand to my cheek,
lips to my lips,
electricity jumping from one touch to the other.
Enough power
to charge a city.
In the storm’s eye I found your eyes.
