The Truth of Who We Are

My writing has run ahead and I’m struggling to keep up…

I’m not sure why I’m surprised, but as is so often the case my writing runs in a different direction then I’d intended. Yes, I have a path in life that I’m following, though too often in the past it was going nowhere. Now I’ve started blazing my writing trail and find my writing often takes its own path.

Thankfully, I trust its instincts.

A short while back I suspended my regular “The Journal” postings because my little internet experiment had gone terribly wrong. Thinking little of the act, I started writing it in first person. Oh wow, not my style. Yikes. I’m going to third person, which will then make it consistent with Where Light Devours.

Too, the title was basically a working title, but then I realized that a working title is a boring title when readers are seeing the first draft. Thus, there’s a new title, Last Word Before Dying. Yes, I just managed to use the same word four times in the same sentence.

I’ve also ditched the journal entry format; it was too constraining for me.

The past couple of weeks have been hectic here and this coming weekend I’m attending a wedding, but after that life will be more sane. Still, I’ve already made some changes to my site to accommodate the new title and have redesigned the banner, which I’ll include.

My sincere thanks to all of you who’ve jumped on the bus with this humbled and slightly crazy driver. Believe me, if you saw my writing methods you’d wonder how I ever produce anything.

I’ve made a peace with my methods and so they work for me. I’ll continue to free the stories in my mind without regard to the means.

Let it always be the case that we follow the truth of who we are. Let it always be that my readers demand the truth in my writing, for they deserve nothing less. Let it always be that my tales, though fiction, stand on a truthful foundation. That’s my path.
