Dreamer’s Fate

A fate such as this,
a dreamer burdened with a fragile heart,
each day a holiday
tight to my breast,
each sight and sound
special magic I long clutch,
each bell tolling
marking the march to one eve or another.
Time compounds the ache
and refuses to dull,
it compounds the longing
until prayers are disavowed.
