Our Perpetual Dusk

Perpetual dusk
by day gray
bleeding to red when the sun dies
or the moon is afire.
The fire stings my eyes,
lungs choking on smoke
while nature cries
to signal she’s dying.
Her heart breaks,
old growth turned to ash,
yet humans complain,
humans who don’t understand
there are consequences to each action.
