Wearing Hurt

Sturdy, gray cloak
—warmth is illusion—
never resisting the chill,
frayed where the heart cannot hide.

Unfaded hurt.
Woven barbs in fabric.
Unraveled truths…
tightening noose wrapping lies.

Unworthy garment.
Struggle in the rain.
Violence soaking in tears,
a piece of a life dies.

Concealing cover.
Midnight isolation.
Hands over ears
to muffle your cries.
