What does it say
to not miss the person left behind,
but, instead, mourn what-could-have-been?
What does it say
when shedding wondering tears
is to know no one else is wondering?
Such is knowing
that time has dried the eyes
and passed wondering into faded memory.
Such is knowing
that what-could-have-been
has given way to the realm of self-reliance.
