Freedom’s Air

Years in a cage,
dreaming of freedom,
dreaming of ME.

Always wondering …
if the cell door were cast aside
would I be brave enough to go free.

The day arrived,
the door fell,
and I breathed freedom’s air at last.

It was more than dreams,
more than hope,
it was overcoming the past.

Make those fists,
raise that voice,
let determination take hold.

Freedom is for one,
it’s for all,
it was meant for you to own.
