She touched her skin,
a place where once a heart did beat.
Silence,
a chilling breeze moving through the cemetery within.
Heartbreak, it was real…
she’d always wondered.
Love came along,
a love so strong it took her breath away,
but it traveled in one direction alone,
never returning to the heart that gave it life.
And so,
in a moment not heard,
the heart that’d waited so long became silent,
and beat no more.

It’s always a pleasure to read your poems. First they seem simple, but they touch you deep inside and leave you wondering and thinking…
Thank you, Marie! I don’t strive to be a great poet, but instead I try to capture what passes through my heart at any given moment.
